To register your ORCID iD with Duke, go to the Office of Information Technology Account Self-Service Portal. You will need to sign in with your Duke netid.
Once you have logged into the Self-Service Portal:
– Expand the “Manage Directory Listings” box by clicking on the green plus at the far left.
– Expand “Register your ORCID iD” by clicking on the green plus next to it.
– Click the link at the bottom of the box to register your ORCID iD with Duke.
If you already have an ORCID iD, the link will take you to orcid.org, where you can sign into your ORCID account. If you do not have an ORCID account and iD yet, you can register for one by clicking on the “Register now!” link from the ORCID homepage.
Once you have signed into your ORCID account or created a new account:
ORCID will ask you for authorization to share your ORCID information with Duke.
ORCID takes data security and privacy very seriously, and for that reason the inclusion of ORCID iDs in systems external to ORCID must be authorized through this interface. Clicking “Authorize” will allow you to connect your ORCID with Duke.
Once you return to your profile in the Account Self-Service Portal:
You should see your ORCID iD in the “Manage Directory Listings” box.
Refresh the page if you do not see your ORCID immediately. If you continue to have problems, contact email@example.com.
At any time, you can remove your ORCID from your Duke profile by clicking the “Clear ORCID iD” button.
NB: You should have only one ORCID account, one iD. If you have already signed up for an ORCID through a publisher or funding organization’s website, you do not need to sign up again. Simply sign into the ORCID account you created before.
If you search the Duke Directories, your ORCID iD will now be included with your contact information. Individuals can use this to find your ORCID profile and see your publications and other works.
