ORCID box on the OIT Self-Service Portal.

Once you have logged into the Self-Service Portal:

Navigate to the ORCID box at the lower right of the screen.

Click “Create or Connect Your ORCID ID.” You will be redirected to the ORCID sign-in page, or you can create a new ORCID.

[Do not log in with institution, as Duke does not have an institutional log-in through Shibboleth. You will need to create an independent ORCID account with the email of your choice.]

The ORCID log-in screen as redirected from the Duke OIT Self-Service Portal.

Once you have signed into your ORCID account or created a new account:

ORCID will ask you for authorization to share your ORCID information with Duke.

Authorize Duke to access your ORCID data.

ORCID takes data security and privacy very seriously, and for that reason the inclusion of ORCID in systems external to ORCID must be authorized through this interface. Clicking “Authorize” will allow you to connect your ORCID with Duke.

You will receiveĀ a confirmation that your ORCID has been linked with Duke.

Confirmation from OIT that your ORCID has been successfully linked to Duke.

You will then see the connection in the main OIT Self-Service Portal Interface.

At any time, you can remove your ORCID from your Duke profile by clicking the “Clear ORCID iD” button.

NB: You should have only one ORCID account, one iD. If you haveĀ  already signed up for an ORCID through a publisher or funding organization’s website, you do not need to sign up again. Simply sign into the ORCID account you created before.
